Profile

Gil De Backer obtained his degree in Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) and explored his interest in marketing and international business at The University of Queensland (Australia). He joined KLM Engineering and Maintenance (E&M) as a Technical Management Trainee and has since held various positions. He began his career as a Business Analyst and soon after became head of the Fuel and Electrical Power Generation (IDG/VFSG) Shop at Component Services. He then managed various projects within the Airframe division and at E&M corporate level before joining Engine Services in his current position. He now is head of the Customer Services Team as part of the Commercial Operations unit and leads the team of Customer Support Managers who are responsible for ensuring Customer satisfaction through hassle free customer operations. Together with the team he is responsible for managing the contracts and commercial aspects of the complete Customer Portfolio of Engine Services.
